• What is your position at SLPowers

I am the Senior Project Engineer, I am responsible for carrying out the scope of work on a project to its completion, and when required to help out as a technical resource to the other project engineers.

• Who is Josh Spranger, in five words?

Fearless, loyal, dedicated, meticulous, father.

• What is your favorite aspect of working at SLPowers?

The camaraderie, many of us here have been together for up to 20 years in some cases. My boss was my best man at my wedding. We all hang out even in our private lives (wait – we have private lives!?!?!?!).

• What would your dream job be, if you weren’t working for SLPowers?

Hmmm … well, judging by those that have left only to come back into the fold, I would say this is pretty close to my dream job. My mentality is that I have to love what I do in order to do it every day as a job, and from my very early years in the business I knew this was my perfect fit. My other mantra is I could never work for an end user IT shop, because it would never give me the satisfaction I have now. I have had other jobs (I did a bit of a sabbatical many years ago in construction), but this is where I keep coming back to.

• If you had to eat one thing for lunch, every day, for the rest of your life- what would it be?

LOL! I generally skip lunch in favor of a big breakfast, that’s my best meal of the day! I could eat breakfast at each meal!

• What is your favorite vacation spot? 

So far? Arizona. It has lakes for boating and the Grand Canyon (which me and my wife have hiked). And the people are just soo nice! Plus I’m a bit of a desert rat anyway (Phoenix is where I was born). I’ve been all over this country and many others, but that’s where I gravitate to.

• What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?

I don’t think I have much left on my ‘Bucket’ list, marked one off last year when I went to Hawaii. Probably a cruise to Alaska, other than that I have done more than most on the adventure side, I was pretty crazy growing up. Nowadays it’s all about being a good husband to my beautiful Wife and a good father to my wonderful Son. And finishing the rebuild of my gazebo!

• Where are you from?

Las Vegas Nevada by way of Phoenix Arizona. Just LOVE the Western US! Some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

• What is your go to karaoke song?

You want to clear out a room? Have me sing! I used to be in a singing group in high school, but after puberty that was all over…

• If you were to put on a Lunch & Learn, what would your presentation be about?

I do a lot of L&L’s, . But if I could choose any topic I like it would probably be something very similar to the Science Channels ‘How the Universe Works’. Space exploration is one of my hobbies.

• What is your favorite sports team?

Depends, what sport? Football is the San Diego Chargers (used to live there), For college hoops UNLV (hey, I’m a UNLV Graduate!), don’t really follow baseball, and for pro basketball I guess I’ll go with the Heat. Hockey? Pittsburg Penguins, used to be the Panthers but they haven’t had a competitive season in years.

• If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be? What three questions would you ask them?

Michio Kaku the theoretical physicist from the Science Channel. Just love him! And I would ask him WAAAY more than 3 questions! It would be fun!

• What is your favorite quote?

I have several, one, from the cult favorite ‘Buckaroo Banzai and the 6^th dimension’ goes ‘No matter where you’re at, there you are!’, the other, from Spock on Start Trek ‘Live long and prosper’ is another favorite.

• Anything else you’d like people to know? 

I think that pretty much says it all – gotta save something for the autobiography!
