March 31st is World Backup Day!

Tomorrow is World Backup Day!  Why dedicate a day to data backup?  Because more than 30% of companies have never tested the restoral of their critical data.  NEVER!  And because:

  • 113 mobile devices are lost or stolen every minute. (Some carry sensitive corporate information.)
  • 29% of data disasters are caused by accident.
  • 1 in 10 computers are infected with a virus every month.

Whether you are a small or large business, data is a vital part of your organization. And losing it will cost you profoundly –  in dollars, reputation and clients.

While World Backup Day is a global event, we wish they had named it World Recovery Day instead. Because businesses that focus on backups, but not recovery, are rolling some loaded dice.

And although this “holiday” is celebrated annually, your test restores shouldn’t be a once-a-year event.  Performing regular data recovery tests ensures that your business can bounce back from a disaster, no matter its cause.

When it comes to data protection, there’s no time like the now.

So take the World Backup Day Pledge . . .

“I do solemnly swear to test the recovery of my critical systems on March 31st.”

Don’t be an April Fool!  Get it done in March. (Then do it again next month.)
